Destination Mars
Cat: DC 216. Rel: 12 Feb 20
Destination Mars (7:07)
Destination Mars (Raxon remix) (6:28)
Destination Mars (Shall Ocin remix) (7:05)
Review: While most Drumcode releases are suitably sizable, this EP is particularly large - and not just because it features two huge names in Maceo Plex and Josh Wink. Their original version (A1) is predictably robust and rugged with foreboding low register stabs, metallic clangs, druggy vocal snippets and creepy melodies rising above stomping techno beats. It's a genuinely all-action affair that sounds like a massive room anthem in waiting. Over on side B you'll find two re-rubs: a more melodious Raxon remix that sounds like tech-house on steroids and a deeper, darker, trance-inducing techno take by Shall Ocin.

Mind's Eye
Cat: DCLTD 28. Rel: 15 Mar 23
Mind's Eye (8:14)
Caterwaul (6:29)
Mind's Eye (acappella) (1:17)
Review: The legendary techno pioneer that is Josh Wink is still managing to turn out sleek and fresh cuts decades after he changed the game with his seminal 'Higher State of Consciousness' tune. The Philly-born and bred artist lands on Swedish behemoth Drumcode here with some mighty fine weapons - 'Mind's Eye' is first up and is a bulky and muscular roller with prickly acid and gritty cosmic melodies. 'Caterwaul' has screeching vocals as the title suggests it might and hefty drum funk down low. 'Mind's Eye (acappella)' is a freaky vocal tool for twisted late-night deployment by adventurous DJs.

The Half Full EP
The Half Full EP (limited hand-stamped 12")
Cat: FR 288. Rel: 01 Jun 23
Deep House
Autonomic Journeys (7:26)
Pan Gloss (7:05)
San Guine (7:25)
Review: .He shouldn't really require an introduction but just for the record: Philly legend Josh Wink is responsible for some major club tracks over the past three decades. He returns to Jimpster's Freerange once again, with the two being quite familiar, having traded some remixes over the years. The Half Full EP features 'Autonomic Journeys' which kicks things off the A-side with a sublime fusion of Detroit techno, evocative house vibes and twisted acid. Over on the flip, 'Pan Gloss' delivers with its bouncy style of percussive house, while 'San Guine' delves deeper with a mesmerising groove and enchanting synth lines to take you further into the late night.

Balls Back
Cat: OVM 319. Rel: 26 Sep 22
Balls Back (8:09)
Balls Tool (0:59)
Balls Back (Marco Faraone remix) (6:29)
Balls Back (dub mix) (4:58)
Review: US techno legend Josh Wink is back on his esteemed Ovum imprint with another potential anthem for the ages in the form of 'Balls Back', a proper heads-down affair with furiously syncopated rhythms underpinning Wink's signature druggy vocals with acidic motifs. Over on the flip, Italian main room techno engineer Marco Faraone delivers the goods once again with a steely and austere peak time rendition. Also included are some handy tools in the form of an acapella version and a nicely streamlined dub.
